I’m taking a great course by Izzy Burton on Domestika called Cinematic Digital Illustration. The project for the course is to use photographic reference and create a scene that could be part of an animated film. I chose to base mine on a photo of a man sweeping in front of his store on Riverstreet in Savannah, Georgia that I took while in school at SCAD. In my concept, I changed the scene to a night scene where a kindly older man is cleaning up before closing his Italian restaurant for the evening. I’m very inspired by the art and backgrounds of the older Disney movies 101 Dalmatians, The Aristocats and Lady and the Tramp. Here are a few work-in-progress images including the original photo.
